Clipper Super 228D Air Screen Cleaner
A wood-frame Clipper workhorse that scalps, sifts, and aspirates in one pass. Two 54 x 60 inch screens, a top suction fan, and ball trays, rated at 100 to 150 bushels per hour on seed wheat.

I. A Proven Clipper Air Screen Cleaner
The Super 228D is a high-capacity air screen cleaner. It became one of Clipper's most popular models because it is simple, sturdy, and versatile. It handles fast grain and bean conditioning at high volume, and with closer screens it does precise cleaning at reduced capacity.
Its two large screens sit in separate shoes pitched in opposite directions, so grain travels across most of the width and length of both screens. That layout gives a better separation at high capacity than a single deck of the same size.
- Scalps, sifts, and aspirates in one machine
- Two 54 x 60 in screens in independent shoes
- Top suction fan with adjustable air control
- Ball trays keep screens open
- Roll feed hopper for an even, full-width flow
- Four ball bearing eccentrics with counterbalancing
- Fits anywhere in a cleaning line
II. How the Clipper Super 228D Works
Grain moves through six stages from the hopper to the clean discharge spout.
Roll Feed
A slowly turning fluted roll in the hopper feeds an even flow of grain across the full width of the top screen.
Aspiration
A large suction fan draws air up through the falling grain and pulls out lightweight trash before it reaches the top screen. Heavier trash settles in a chamber and leaves through a catch-all spout. A control valve near the discharge spout sets the air flow.
Scalping
The top screen removes sticks, stems, stones, and other large trash. The grain drops through and a pan carries it to the bottom screen.
Finishing
The bottom screen holds up the good grain and drops broken, undersized, and weak kernels and small foreign material to a pan underneath.
Fines Discharge
Material that passes through the bottom screen discharges into a spout at the side of the cleaner.
Clean Discharge
Clean grain runs over the bottom screen into the tapered discharge spout, which has a 6 x 12 in opening.
