The world's most widely used seed and grain cleaners — manufactured by AT Ferrell since 1869. Clipper air screen cleaners separate by size and shape using precision screens and airflow, from lab-scale testers to 3,500 BPH high-capacity commercial systems. Supplied and supported by Vistasort across Canada.
A Clipper air screen cleaner is the foundational cleaning machine in any seed and grain processing line. It separates product by size and shape — using a series of precision screens to scalp oversized material from the top and sift undersized material and weed seeds through the bottom, while built-in airflow removes dust and chaff simultaneously.
Clipper seed and grain cleaners have been manufactured by the A.T. Ferrell Company since 1869, making Clipper the most widely used brand of air screen cleaners in the world. Their products have evolved from over 150 years of experience, combining cutting-edge technology with enduring craftsmanship designed for years of trouble-free operation.
Vistasort supplies and supports the full Clipper line across Canada — from small lab-size testers for plant breeders and research stations, through farm-size cleaners for on-farm seed conditioning, to high-capacity commercial systems for large-scale grain processing facilities.
Clipper seed cleaners are designed using cutting-edge technology and manufactured with enduring craftsmanship for years of trouble-free operation. The Clipper name is synonymous with precision air screen cleaning worldwide — trusted by seed conditioners, grain processors, plant breeders, and commercial operators on every continent.
Vistasort is your Canadian Clipper dealer — providing full model selection, installation support, screen configuration guidance, and long-term parts availability for every Clipper machine we supply.
Clipper cleaners use a logical three-stage separation process — combining screen sizing with airflow cleaning in a single continuous pass.
Product is fed into an adjustable in-feed hopper that distributes grain evenly across the full screen width. Electronic variable-speed vibratory feed systems on larger models ensure consistent, controlled feed rate regardless of throughput variation.
Product passes over the top screen, which has openings larger than the product itself. Oversized foreign material — sticks, stones, clumped material, and large weed seeds — is "scalped" off and discharged separately while good product falls through.
Product then passes over the bottom screen(s), which have openings smaller than the commodity being cleaned. Undersized material, weed seeds, splits, and fine trash fall through the screen while good product passes over it and continues forward.
Product is routed through a vertical air column from the built-in fan. Calibrated air gate controls allow precise separation settings. Lightweight dust, chaff, and remaining light material is lifted and removed — clean product exits at the bottom of the air chamber.
Commercial models offer up to six standard product flow configurations — Scalp-Scalp, Split Scalp, Scalp-Sift, and combinations — enabling one machine to be configured for multiple crops and cleaning objectives without major reconfiguration.

Clipper air screen cleaners by AT Ferrell — available through Vistasort, Western Canada's seed and grain processing equipment dealer.
From small-lot lab testers to high-capacity commercial grain cleaning systems — Vistasort supplies the full Clipper line across Canada.
155 years of continuous refinement have produced a line of cleaners that set the standard for precision, durability, and operator simplicity.
Over 150 different standard screen sizes are available for Clipper cleaners, from 12×12 inch hand test screens to 54×60 inch single-piece large screens. Custom screen sizes are available on request, and Vistasort can assist with screen selection for any crop.
Clipper's heavy-duty screen cleaning ball trays keep screens clear during operation without removing them — maintaining separation efficiency and allowing screens to be changed without removing ball trays for faster, easier maintenance.
Two calibrated air gate controls work in combination with back adjustable doors for precise air separation settings — giving operators fine control over the airflow cleaning stage to match any crop type without guesswork.
Electronic variable-speed vibratory inlet feed hoppers with adjustable internal gates provide uniform seed flow through the air column and onto screens — ensuring consistent cleaning performance regardless of fluctuations in infeed rate.
Commercial models offer up to six standard product flow configurations including Scalp-Scalp, Split Scalp, and Scalp-Sift. This flexibility allows one machine to handle multiple crops and cleaning objectives without major reconfiguration or tooling changes.
Replaceable metal screenways and rubber screen seals are designed for ease of future repair — reducing long-term maintenance costs and extending the productive service life of the cleaner in demanding commercial environments.
New-style shoe hangers and drive connectors provide smooth counterbalanced operation — minimizing vibration transfer to the building structure and reducing mechanical wear on the machine for extended service life.
A bottom blast fan is available on select models for specialized or extreme air separation requirements — providing additional airflow capacity for crops or applications that demand more aggressive lightweight material removal.
Airlock discharge trash augers with bottom access doors provide easy cleanout between crops — a critical feature in multi-crop facilities where fast, thorough changeover between seed lots is essential for seed purity compliance.
With over 150 standard screen sizes, Clipper air screen cleaners can be configured for virtually any dry seed or grain crop grown in Western Canada and beyond.
Clipper provides pre-engineered screen recommendations for every major crop — with top screen and bottom screen combinations documented for grain and oilseed crops, small legume seeds, beans and peas, and specialty crops. If your crop isn't on the standard list, A.T. Ferrell's test lab can evaluate a sample and provide custom screen specifications.
Vistasort's team can assist with screen selection for Canadian crop varieties and conditions — helping you configure the right screen set for your specific cleaning objectives, whether precision seed conditioning for certified seed programs or high-speed market cleaning for commercial grain operations.
